Apocalyptic literature in the scripture is NOT about end times – the ongoing speculation about when Jesus will return. Such literature is not aimed at answering the question: “What’s next?” (the deciphering of the “signs of the times”) Rather such language is writting to people of faith facing challenging times, answering the question: “What now?” These passages are all about hope.
