While beginning preparations for this sermon (snowed in, stuck at home) I could hear my CAT upstairs screaming for everyone attention.  Like most cats, she thinks she is the center of the universe.  That’s the root of the temptation stories.  The “devil” invites Jesus (and his followers) to imagine that they are the center of the universe.  But even the one who IS the center of the universe (the incarnate Christ) didn’t act that way.
