After 48 years playing the organ & piano in several different
congregations – with about 20 of them being at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church, Johnnie Taggart is retiring, effective August 28, 2011.
She’ll be missed and we will have a BIG party to send her into retirement in style (she deserves it).
As a result of Johnnie’s retirement, Patterson Avenue Baptist is seeking an “accompanist” who is compentant playing the piano and/or organ.
This new staff musician will work with our gifted Music Director Lee
Stevens, providing worship music, accompanying concregational singing, choirs, and other musician (vocal and instrumental).
This new musician will be comfortable playing many style of music
(classical, traditional hymns, contemporary praise songs, etc.)
This person must be available Sundays at 11:00AM for worship; Wednesday evenings for choir rehersal; occassionally after worship on Sundays to accompany other groups; each fifth Sunday for a missional worship program at “The Virginia Home”; and seasonally available for additional rehersals for Christmas, Easter, and other holiday music activities.
